What are the installation and drainage requirements for toilets?
There are two main categories of toilets: freestanding toilets and wall-mounted toilets. Among independent toilets, there are three main installation styles: one piece toilet, independent toilets and overhead flush toilet.
One-piece toilet: This is the simplest type of installation. The toilet and cistern are directly connected, they can form a single element or two adjacent elements. Although toilets with two separate elements are more common, 1 piece toilets with a single element have no seams and are therefore easier to clean.
Free-standing toilet: The water tank is hidden in the partition, usually maintained by a structure integrated with the wall, and the toilet is placed directly on the floor. This type of installation is favored in modern bathroom because freestanding toilets are easier to clean than traditional one-piece toilets and flushing is generally quieter.
High-flush toilet: This type of installation is particularly suitable for classic-style bathrooms with high ceilings. The bowl and tank are connected by pipes. Toilet flushing is usually operated by a chain.
Unlike freestanding toilets, wall-mounted toilets do not touch the floor, making them easier to maintain.
wall hung toilet: The toilet is fixed to a metal structure as a support (frame), hidden in the partition. The frame can hide the water tank. This is the best solution for a minimalist bathroom, but it is complicated to implement.
When it comes to drainage, it is important to determine whether your toilet should be connected horizontally to the drain pipe with a straight pipe ("p" siphon) or vertically with a curved pipe ("s" siphon). If you are renovating, be sure to choose a toilet that matches the existing drain pipes.
